STULZ CyberCon Offers Precision Environmental Control for Containerized Computer Rooms

stulz air technology systems, inc. (stulz) introduces the stulz cyberhandler packaged outdoor air handling system, a highly energy-efficient centralized cooling solution for data centers that frees up valuable indoor white space.

the new cyberhandler system is modular, scalable and configured to a customer’s unique requirements. the system arrives completely pre-assembled and can be placed on the data center facility’s roof or next to the building on ground level. the cyberhandler’s full set of controls is ready “out of the box.” in addition, the system is easily networked with other cyberhandler units and is compatible with all common protocols for building control software and for integration into dcim.

“the stulz cyberhandler solution’s energy efficiency, combined with the fact that it can free up an average of five to ten percent of indoor white space, provides many users an ideal solution for their precision cooling needs” says david joy, vice president of sales and marketing for stulz. joy adds that the installation cost is low, that stulz provides startup and commissioning support, and that - with the ability to add “free cooling” solutions - the cyberhandler outdoor air handling system achieves excellent power usage effectiveness (pue*).

“the cyberhandler system transforms the renowned stulz technologies and efficiencies to an outdoor unit,” says joerg desler, vice president of production and engineering for stulz. “all of our stringent product standards to protect critical customer data were maintained in designing and manufacturing this new outdoor system.”

some of the energy-efficient components and features include:

  • high efficiency variable speed ec fan array provide redundancy and minimal energy consumption;
  • chilled water (cw) and packaged direct expansion (dx) solutions are available with a wide range of capacities, which can be combined with:
    • an air-side economizer option with or without direct adiabatic cooling
    • and / or a water-side economizer option for dx/cw or cw/cw coil configurations;
  • standard stulz e² controller to ensure precise control.

the stulz cyberhandler outdoor air handling system has a scalable hot-dipped-galvanized frame structure with standardized sections providing a modular design. its design flexibility permits mounting on a roof or steel curb structure with lifting points for rigging.

the cabinet housing of the cyberhandler features a foam panel design with integrated thermal break, providing optimal thermal insulation and high strength along with light weight. the cabinet’s painted aluminum skin offers superior corrosion protection, and the pitched roof allows proper water drainage.

the unique and compact cabinet design of the cyberhandler allows for shipping in one piece as well as grouping of multiple individual units to achieve larger cooling capacity requirements – a truly modular approach.

desler says the integration of the cyberhandler system’s individual components is central to its success and its ability to provide maximum flexibility, performance, and efficiency to meet each customer’s unique requirements.

joy says data centers need very precise environmental control to prevent failure from overheating, unnecessary energy usage from overcooling, corrosion from too much humidity, and electro-static discharge from overly dry conditions

stulz cyberhandler responds to the need of data center owners with a reliable, energy efficient solution.  for additional information about the stulz cyberhandler outside air handler unit for data centers, please visit: http://www.stulz-ats.com/products/outdoor-cooling/air-handler/
